SIMPLY NOW

The simplest things in life are often times the hardest to attain. We have an idea of what we want, what we don't, where we're going and and how we're going to get there. These ideas start off as visual portals into a future we have yet to meet and somewhere along the line, evolve into "plans". The thing about a plan is that it takes you away from the moment which is really the only reality you have. When we're suffering we "plan" on ways to make it end and when we're happy we "plan" on ways to make it last. Consequently, we end up existing in an illusory state: the future.

The beauty of a moment is that it consistently ends so the next can begin, never missing a beat. Its rhythm is found through the vibrations of laughter, tears, love, anger, hate and longing. It lives vicariously through the seconds of our emotions feeling the depth of what we choose to stay numb to. The beauty of a moment is that it breaks up with you only for the next moment to realize its mistake when it misses you. A moment makes you smile in the face of accomplishment so in the next you can maintain in the face of loss. It makes you cry when you discover you're alone so you learn the strength that comes from standing on your own two feet and drying your own tears. The beauty of a moment is that it sprouts from the past and reaches towards the future, never forgetting that without the delicate balance of both extremes, it wouldn't exist.

I promise you that your suffering will end and I promise you that your happiness will end. And I also promise you that neither will be forever. Instead of waiting to stop crying or longing to be happy, FEEL the emotion of that moment; the pain, the emptiness, the joy, the warmth. By the time you're done wishing it would end or begin, the whole experience would have just passed you by. A moment is a second of our life compiled into a lifetime. Nothing can be taken back, but it can always be felt, remembered, appreciated and applied in the simplest of forms.
